Eastside Trail’s ‘Common Ground’ construction to finish this month

Spitting distance from Ponce City Market and the rapidly changing, Beltline-fronting landscape around it, the mixed-use complex housing the Eastside Trail’s resident brewery, New Realm, is wrapping up construction.

Called “Common Ground,” the hangout is slated to host much more than the brewpub, which opened on the path in January.

Developer Third & Urban is planning for two restaurant concepts, retail offerings, and loft office space. As of June 28, the 33,000 square feet of leasable office and retail space is officially up for grabs. (Businesses are being to encouraged to build out their own rooftop patios).

In the former warehouse space right on the Beltline, however, just 1,500 square feet of retail remains rentable, officials say.

Bazati, the restaurant and retail combo, is also expected to debut later this month.

A concept by The Diligence Company, “Bazati will offer patrons a selection of well-curated novelties, where books, flowers, Colombian leather, artisanal Yucatecan accessories and home wear, wine, and cigars will be part of a global selection,” according to a release.

Bazati will serve up a lower-level restaurant called “The Brasserie,” while its rooftop hosts another, open-air eatery, “Estrella.”

Additionally, those pesky power lines, which picky patrons might have noticed are (sort of) obscuring the view of Atlanta’s skyline from New Realm’s upper-floor patio, are currently being buried.

Once completed, the whole Common Ground project will offer more than an acre of Beltline-side patio space, according to the release.

Just north of this activity on the Beltline, the reimagined Kroger-anchored complex 725 Ponce is also showing signs of progress, with windows being installed.

The Beltline also today kicked off another phase of construction on the Eastside Trail, aiming to build the paved path from its current terminus in Reynoldstown to Memorial Drive.
